Important things that compound

I’ve been wanting to put together a list of things that, for me, multiply into living a happier, more intentional life. On a given day if I’ve experienced one of the things below, I’d consider it successful.

  1. Quality > quantity.
  2. Having a meaningful purpose, this is the one I have been struggling with lately. Ideally I want a purpose that leads to mastery in my work, because work is where the largest chunk of awake time is spent.
  3. A solid workout, not a rack slamming gym session or knee hurting long run. Turning up matters especially when I didn’t have an ounce of motivation, but I felt better after I worked out.
  4. Quiet mornings.
  5. A great cup of coffee.
  6. Becoming a regular at a local coffee shop, restaurant, and community (if that is your thing).
  7. Prioritizing myself both mentally and physically.
  8. Doing 1 thing exceptionally well. Really trying to be in the top 1% of that problem space.
  9. Time is the most valuable resource.
  10. Having deep conversations with close friends even if they are far away.
  11. Proximity to friends and family.
  12. Assuming positive intentions.
  13. Being in a walkable city, walking everywhere. Walking has many health benefits.
  14. Adventurous vacations.
  15. Bougie vacations.
  16. A nice hummus, baba ganoush, shish Tawook with Toum. It’s #toumforlife
  17. Clean, organic food.
  18. Learning something new. These days I’m trying to pick up agentic AI development and options trading.
